Local walks

Here are some ideas for walks close to Swangs in the southern lakes area.  It is hard to choose favourites as they are all different and change with the seasons. It is possible to walk all the peaks visible from the cottage over a weekend - Blawith Beacon, Blawith Knott and Tottlebank, Coniston Old Man and Dow Crag, Caw and Harter Fell (in order of proximity).

From the door:

Lowick Beacon - get your bearings and look out for the deer on the common

Less than 10 minutes drive:

Beacon Tarn from Water Yeat - Superbly quiet and wonderful for swimming in the summer. I do this walk every time I am up whatever the weather.

Blawith Knott and Tottlebank Heights - Fantastic for seeing the Duddon Valley and how it merges into the Coniston fells

Torver Back Common and Coniston lakeside - Stunning views and fairly low level. Great for a day when you can't see much of the Old Man.
